Telecom sheds light on new TV service

Telecom has revealed its new online TV service Lightbox, offering a 30 day trial followed by a $15 per 30 day charge on signup.

The service will launch with 5000 hours of shows across a variety of genres, says launch director Simon Hoegsbro, and requires a broadband connection but no contract or installation.

“Our aim is to bring our service to as many homes as possible,” says Hoegsbro.

Shows will include the dramas 24 – Live Another Day and Vikings, along with Mad Men.

Up to five devices can be used with each Lightbox account, including laptops, desktops, the iPad, Airplay and Apple TV.

Sky recently announced plans for a subscription TV and video on demand service before the end of the year, to stand alone from its pay television services and to be available to Sky and non-Sky customers.

Quickflix and Ezyflix are also available locally.
