New app Magic Beans is all about bringing together the large community of gardeners all in one place.
The community of Magic Beans was founded over seven years ago in Hawkes Bay and has since grown to over 5000 regional members who share a love and interest for gardening and produce.
Sarah Grant and Anneliese Hough, Founders of Magic Beans, are ready to expand their community with the launch of a mobile application.
Through connecting the gardeners of the world, Magic Beans is a platform about growing and sharing fresh products, especially the excess produce, gardening tips and a place to share ideas.
Grant, who is also Managing Director of Magic Beans, says that the launch of the app comes at the right time, with Kiwis are facing a recession and a rising cost of living, particularly with food prices.

She says Magic Beans is a user-friendly platform that acts similar to a marketplace of homegrown surplus produce, but moneyless, a place of connecting with locals also doing the same and an educational app for all.
“Our goal is to create an environment where people can share their love for gardening, exchange produce, and support sustainable living practices,” says Grant.
“The app is free to use, though people can choose to subscribe to access advanced tools and features, and it’s going to be much more functional than what we can manage on Facebook. Over the next year, we aim to raise money to enable us to expand into other markets internationally.”
Magic Beans will have three main features: product exchange, a community forum and members’ profile.
These features will allow Magic Beans to foster a community that empowers home gardeners and their endeavours across the country.
Magic Beans is a free app and can be downloaded on their website.
