Tesla is coming to NZ! UPDATED!

Elon Musk, Tesla's uber-CEO, announced today that orders for the new Model 3 are open to New Zealand.

UPDATE: According to Musk, by Monday morning NZ time, Tesla had received over 276,000 preorders of the Model 3. That's over US$10 billion of future purchases. For a car that no-one has seen and doesn't ship until the end of next year.

I hate to use Gladwellisms, but, could the Model 3 be electric cars' tipping point?

At 3:30pm today Friday, Tesla will open (or just opened if you're reading later) online orders on it's new Model 3 and, for the first time, is accepting orders from New Zealand.

Tesla inventor/CEO Elon Musk announced the news on Twitter:

Rod Drury was certainly excited ...

.. and replied to Musk ...

... who replied to Drury ...

... which got Drury understandably excited ...

You and Rod Drury can order your Tesla's here. Model 3s are limited to two per person, so if you need three of them, you're going to have to be patient.
