After a successful first Auckland Design Week earlier in 2024, the event is coming back in 2025 for a week-long celebration of design in early March.
For its second event ever, Auckland Design Week is bringing over the international designer, Karim Rashid as a keynote speaker.
Rashid is a prolific designer with over 4000 designs under his belt and has won over 400 awards for his work for the likes of Asus, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Kenzo and so much more.
“I am extremely excited to have been invited to New Zealand for ADW25. I aspire to shape culture through my work by making design a public subject, so I relish this opportunity to meet with designers, design enthusiasts and the Kiwi public to share our passion for all things design,” says Rashid.
The 2025 edition of Auckland Design Week is embodying a theme of “Chance + Change”. exploring the transformative potential and ethical implications of emerging technologies such as AI, VR, AR, prefabrication, 3D printing, robotics and more.

Early March will see Auckland be doused with events focusing on women in design, the future of design, ethics, cybersecurity and emerging technologies.
Founder and Director of the week, Jen Jones says she has been astounded with the response of the event in its first year.
“Heading into year two with such incredible support provides a great deal of confidence for the future of the event,” she says.
“Our aim is to embed ADW as a highly anticipated annual fixture for the design community, as well as locals and visitors to Auckland. One that inspires, educates, stimulates and celebrates all things design.”
Auckland Design Week is set to begin its second edition on March 3 to 9 in 2025.
