While all nine categories are stuffed full of clever and good designs – from a coffee flavour finder to an AI weapon against scammers – we’ve taken a brief look at the finalists in the Value of Design Award:
RTA Studio – Axiom Projects
The re-opening of Objectspace Gallery in Ponsonby took place in July last year. The new, larger gallery, situated in a former industrial warehouse, was designed by RTA Studio and boasts four exhibition spaces and a multi-use public programme space.

On the Fence is a gameful questionnaire that helps young undecided and first-time voters engage directly with issues by matching their personal values with political parties. It is a tool that “builds political confidence, participation and transforms disengaged users into informed, active voters.”

As everyone knows, Weta Workshop creates fantastical special effects and props, and GKR: Heavy Hitters looks exactly the same but in game form. It’s customizable tabletop game for one to four players, combining high-quality collectables with dice-rolling, deck-building and tactical play.
