What time do you wake up?
Typically 5:30am because it’s the most uninterrupted time of the day, no emails, no calls or texts. I see it as time to get ahead or an opportunity to set up my day.
What’s the ideal way to start your day?

A long black, 30 to 60 minutes of exercise (typically weight training) a protein-based smoothie, a gratitude practice and some quality time with my partner. In no particular order.

Do you have any morning rituals?
The above would be my ritual, except on two of those days I’ll take a rest from the gym and spend more time with my journal.
How soon do you begin doing work-related things, i.e. checking phone or emails?
I try not to check work related things until I’m on my way to work or at work. By prioritising myself entirely before work hours I know I will get the most out of my day once I reach the office.
What’s your media consumption or interaction like from the morning onwards – do you listen to podcasts, radio, watch videos, read books and magazines, visit new sites? 
My drive to work always entails a podcast or audiobook. I feel like it primes my mind and I hit the ground running once at work. Maybe it’s placebo, I’m not sure – but I feel it works.
What kind of work do you do? 

Creative advertising, branding, design and social.

 I think ‘ideas people’ are always on. Always absorbing new information or interpreting things for new insights and perspectives. For that reason ideas can come from anywhere at any time of the day. Often I’ll get an idea while driving to work or at the gym, and I’ll need to email myself that idea so I don’t forget it. 
What’s unique about your line of work? 

Our clients are across all different verticals, meaning you constantly need to learn about new industries and consumers to be in a position to make strategic recommendations. We then get to advise as to how our clients can solve genuine business objectives using creativity. 

What responsibility does that involve in a typical day? What takes up most of your time? 

We are a relatively small team so I wear two hats – client service director and general manager. On one hand I spend lots of time in meetings, presenting work or making sure our client service team have all the help they need. On the other hand I’m floating across the top of the agency making sure everyone’s busy, enjoying their jobs, there’s a steady flow of new business and the agency turns a profit.

Who do you see/talk to? 

Staff, my director Gianni and clients, in no particular order. 

Where do your best ideas come from? 

Tough question. I think ‘ideas people’ are always on. Always absorbing new information or interpreting things for new insights and perspectives. For that reason ideas can come from anywhere at any time of the day. Often I’ll get an idea while driving to work or at the gym, and I’ll need to email myself that idea so I don’t forget it. 

What are the most important tools or programmes you use for your work? 

We run our entire business through Google, Xero and Adobe based applications. That’s all we need. Keep it simple.

How do you juggle all your responsibilities? 

Lots of planning. Each morning once at the office I plan my day. I also rely my calendar heavily. Fortunately my many years of suiting have given me awesome time management skills.

What kind of breaks do you take throughout the day? 

I’m a big believer in taking breaks. I’ll sit down with a long black and Instagram at least twice a day (mainly design or health & wellness pages). Then I take at least a 30-minute lunch break to sit down and journal. Breaks make me work better and means I enjoy my day more too.

What’s the most enjoyable part of your day? 

Journalling. Each day I find time to sit with my journal and a long black. I work on self awareness exercises, gratitude practices and goal setting. I’ve done this nearly everyday for the past three years. Some people find this strange, but I love it.

What about the least enjoyable? 

I love every part of my day.

Do you procrastinate? Is it good or bad? 

I’ve always been pretty driven so have never had issues with procrastination fortunately.

Do you measure your accomplishments or productivity? If so, how? 

Yep. I set goals regularly and measure myself against the progress. I do this each month then a big measurement exercise once a year.

Is there anything you think is unique about your day?
I drink about six coffees a day. People normally find that odd. I guess it is a bit excessive.
What’s your interaction with friends and family throughout the day? Can you be both a successful entrepreneur and a good mother/partner/friend? 

Absolutely. My honest opinion is if you’re working so much that you can’t show up for your partner or children then your job is most likely jeopardising your value or belief system. Working hard is one thing, not being a good partner or parent is another.  

Do you get stressed? If so, how do you manage it? Do you practice any mindfulness or meditation?
I definitely get stressed. Daily journaling, exercise and supplementing things like ashwagandha, rhodiola or theanine have helped over the years.
What do you do once you get home? Can you switch off?  

I partly switch off. I’m fully present when at home and with my partner or friends but I still make time to check emails, just to make sure there’s no emergencies. Also most of the pages I follow through social media are work related so I enjoy taking in that information when relaxing at night.

What time do you go to sleep? 

The aim is 10:30pm. I need seven hours. I think that’s my sweet spot.
