Best Awards

Fraser Gardyne reckons he won his Black Pin for Outstanding Achievement because when it comes to the design industry in New Zealand, he simply “won’t go away”. That and he’s an “old fart”. In our latest video interview from the Best Awards, the principal of graphic design company gardyneHOLT explains why the gratification he felt in his earlier days of design — days when he used to design books — is completely different to the feeling you get these days when you’re designing brands and working with different media like the web. He also tells us why he thinks the Kiwi design industry is "absolutely stunning", in spite of a difficult last few years.
