Web travel booking and expenses management firm Serko, headquartered in Auckland, has appointed Simon Botherway as its board chairman.
Botherway is a former fund manager and chaired the Financial Markets Authority Establishment board. He also chaired the NZX’s Asset Management Advisory Committee and was a member of the Electricity Authority Establishment Board.
“I believe Serko has the product portfolio, the market reach and the right management team in place to achieve its goals, says Botherway. Botherway will be joined by independent directors Claudia Batten and Clyde McConaghy.
Tech entrepreneur Batten joined the founding team at Massive Software, a network for video game advertising, which sold to Microsoft in 2006. In 2009 she co-founded Victors & Spoils with ad industry veteran John Winsor and Evan Fry.
McConaghy is a non-executive board member with Infomedia, Optima Boards and Neuroscience Research Australia.
“Serko has ambitions to be an international player and has its immediate sights set on becoming a significant force in the Asian corporate travel booking market,” says its CEO Darrin Grafton.
