Christchurch's Rad Bikes makes a move
Christchurch's Rad Bikes has moved to a new site on the corner of Cashel St and High St.

rad bikes christchurchChristchurch's Rad Bikes has moved to a new site on the corner of Cashel St and High St.

It's a community bike shed, a space where anyone can build or repair their own bicycle using the tools provided (in exchange for a koha) or help restore bikes that will be loaned or gifted to locals. It's open a few times a week, manned by a duty volunteer.

The shed itself is a portable structure designed by architects Nic and Jess Sewell and was built by volunteers in September and October. The hope is it will continue to operate after a six-month trial run.

Idealog has been covering the most interesting people, businesses and issues from the fields of innovation, design, technology and urban development for over 12 years. And we're asking for your support so we can keep telling those stories, inspire more entrepreneurs to start their own businesses and keep pushing New Zealand forward. Give over $5 a month and you will not only be supporting New Zealand innovation, but you’ll also receive a print subscription and a copy of the new book by David Downs and Dr. Michelle Dickinson, No. 8 Recharged (while stocks last).
