THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOLS: A wifi connected juicer that uses proprietary fruit and vegetables

We here at Idealog have oft-despaired about the commercial drive to take care of every minor inconvenience with an internet-of-thing solution to a problem that never really existed.

Enter Juicero.

Just launched where all good things are launched (California), this US$699 juicer only juices pre-packaged chopped fruits and vegetables. It’s like the Nespresso of cold pressed juice. Only even dumber.

According to Business Insider, the Juicero has attracted US$100 million of investment and was designed with the help of Jony Ives and Yves Béhar, with juices formulated in collaboration with Gwyneth Paltrow and Dr Oz. Wow!

Oh, and it’s wifi enabled, for no apparent reason. I guess you could pre-load a ‘Spicy Greens’ before you go to sleep and you’re sleep app can alert it when you wake up so by the time you drag yourself out of bed, there’s a ‘fresh’ cold pressed juice waiting for you.

W T actual F? Proprietary chopped fruits and vegetables? What are we doing here people?

Hope you’re enjoying April Fools Day, because this ain’t no joke.
