How to be a Productivity Ninja: Worry Less, Achieve More and Love What You Do by Graham Allcott
Icon Books, $35

book review how to be a productivity ninja?Don’t we all want to be more productive? Let alone a fully fledged ‘Productivity Ninja’?! Allcott’s book promises to have you stealthily slicing through piles of paper and killing emails with a single glance – in no time at all.

Being a Productivity Ninja is all about working smarter, not harder, and making email (and so on) work for you – rather than the other way round.

Allcott promises you’ll cut down on time spent in ‘pointless meetings’ (less hui, more do-y) and get your inbox down to zero.

Almost sounds too good to be true – but it’s not.

One of the key aspects to manage, says Allcott, is attention management. You can achieve optimum attention and focus in
a couple of ways: scheduling work based on your level of attention, protecting your attention from distractions, improving your attention by increasing your brain’s performance, and creating new ‘pockets of attention’.

The time outlaid in reading this book will save you more in the long run.

Get down with your inner Productivity Ninja – and sort your life (and your emails) out.
