Idealog’s Entrepreneur Wrapped 2023: Nick Foster

The beginning of December marks a very special day for social media, a day where everyone shares who their top artist and what their top song of the year is: Spotify Wrapped Day. We decided to take our own spin on this and talk to some of the entrepreneurs who have been killing it in 2023.

From non-alcoholic beverage entrepreneurs to delivery companies, 2023 saw Kiwi entrepreneurs everywhere take their business to a whole other level.

Nick Foster – Delivereasy

As global delivery food services make their way into New Zealand, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Delivereasy Nick Foster has shown resilience in the eye of competition, and the result? They are still coming out on top.

What has been your biggest highlight of the year?

Alongside other great milestones, the highlight of the year has probably been building and executing an exciting new brand identity, and seeing just how well it’s been received both internally and externally. Hitting our 7 millionth order is a close second!

How did you overcome your biggest challenge you faced this year?

Our industry is forever evolving, and this year has brought challenging economic conditions and increased competition. The best way to overcome these hurdles is to continue to find growth levers, then galvanise the team to execute on these. As the local player in an internationally competitive market, we push ourselves to think outside the box and luckily this is where our team excel.

Based on what you have learnt in the past year, what are some learnings and advice you would give to other aspiring entrepreneurs?

Success doesn’t come to those who wait for it – in good times or bad, never stop exploring new avenues for growth. And remember that the relationships you build along the way might be critical to your future plans too.

Where do you see yourself in one year?

Hopefully sitting here telling you we executed on our new growth initiatives.

And that I’ve had time to read a few books along the way.

Favourite song of this year?

When I’m in charge of tunes in the office, my go-tos are the classics. Think ‘Islands in the Stream’ by Dolly and Kenny, or ‘Learning to Fly’ by Tom Petty.
