Ocean to plate in 36 hours: the Lee Fish Story

As an island nation, the waters that surround New Zealand shape our lives. We consider ourselves as guardians of our precious environment and its produce, ensuring it is preserved for future generations.

Fishing

My very earliest memories are of fishing with my grandfather, and literally since I can remember I’ve been able to go out fishing and catch a feed for my family and friends. But now all this is under very serious and very real threat, and if proposals from Ministry of Primary Industries go through, recreational fishermen and women will be allowed to catch no more than three snapper per day from October this year.

Sealord has signed on to WWF’s Western Central Pacific Tuna Conservation Pledge, New Zealand's first signatory, and announced its intention to reduce non-tuna bycatch to no more than one percent of total catch by 2015.
