Necessity is the mother of invention they say, which is exactly what led Paula Horner to starting a very unique new business utilising an overlooked but plentiful resource.
BBQ Skins is a new Wellington based business which makes barbecue covers out of recycled billboard skins. "I had a light bulb moment and decided to work with used billboards, thus doing my little bit towards helping the Planet" Paula says, now four months in to running her new business.
Paula works with a local upholsterer who sews them up with large industrial sewing machines. She makes the covers for both hooded and flat barbecues with each cover being "individual, unique and lovingly made right here in Wellington".
