All aboard – electric ferries are coming to Auckland

A smart, silent and zero-emissions fleet of ferries in Auckland within two years’ time – could this be possible? Yes, if boat builder McMullen & Wing has its way. The company is working towards having four electric ferries up and running by 2021, just in time for when the spotlight swings to the City of Sails for the America’s Cup and the APEC forum. CEO Michael Eaglen has a chat about his vision.

Automated boat loading company Balex went into liquidation earlier this year, but two Kiwi expat businessmen, Daniel Given and Reon Oak, have come to the rescue. They've relaunched the brand and are rolling out plans to take it global, solving common pain points felt with loading and unloading boats into the water through technology.
