Along with Y Combinator, TechStars is one of the grandaddies of startup accelerators. And next week you could get to hear Laura Reitel, former program manager at TechStars and part of the initial push to create the Global Accelerator Network, speak about what it takes to make it in an accelerator and what actually happens inside one.

Reitel has seen startup companies all over the world attract millions of dollars of investment, build vast user bases and seen the making of some spectacular startup failures, so she's well placed to offer insights into digital startups around the world, the markets they are targeting, and what makes the winning teams work.

The session will also cover some of the key lessons from Lightning Lab, New Zealand’s first digital startup accelerator, and the nine companies running hard and fast through the 12-week programme.

The Auckland event is on at the BizDojo on May 1, 5.30-7.30pm and a Tauranga event follows the day after at Craigs Investment Partners. Entry is free – just register your details.
