There's a bit of a glut of awards in the business sector, but one thing we don't really do is celebrate success in commercialisation. That's why KiwiNet is launching the inaugural Research Commercialisation Awards, entries now open until April 18.
The five award categories are:
· Commercialisation Collaboration Award
· Researcher Entrepreneur Award
· Research & Business Partnership Award
· People’s Choice Award
· Supreme Deal Award
According to KiwiNet general manager Dr Bram Smith, it's as much about people and culture as it is about the technologies being commercialised.
“It’s time to recognise the tremendous amount of work that goes on behind the scenes turning research ideas into commercial value. These awards will bring together the innovation community to celebrate our heroes in this space and inspire others to similar success.”
The awards day and evening reception will run back-to-back with the biannual KiwiNet Commercialisation Forum from June 19-20 at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland.
The Kiwi Innovation Network (KiwiNet) is a consortium of New Zealand universities and crown research institutes collaborating on research commercialisation.

Give over $5 a month and you will not only be supporting New Zealand innovation, but you’ll also receive a print subscription, an Idealog t-shirt and a copy of the new book by David Downs and Dr. Michelle Dickinson, No. 8 Recharged (while stocks last).
