You probably knew full well that Dick Smith was the founding force behind Dick Smith Electronics, but what about Australian Geographic Magazine or Dick Smith Foods?
As well as a successful business career in retailing and publishing, his aviation career has seen him pioneer record breaking flights by helicopter, aeroplane and balloon around the globe. He's also a keen supporter of environmental and conservation efforts.
As keynote speaker for the Tomorrow’s Business event in September, Smith will talk about some insights into the future of business and economy over the coming decades.
Also speaking will be Student Volunteer Army's Sam Johnson, with host Rod Oram, a financial journalist and commentator.
Proceeds will go towards Shaping Our Future – a community engagement initiative in the Queenstown Lakes District.
While tickets are $125, they're offering Idealog readers a special discounted rate of $95. Click here to book a pass at the Idealog rate, or use promo code IDEALOG95.
