The latter is styled as a virtual mall and was launched in the UK this year by Kiwi Emma Ponsonby with 70 high-end labels. Now 46 of those retailers are shipping to New Zealand, including Bloomingdale's, Pucci, French Connection, Marni, Nicole Farhi, Valentino and Victoria's Secret.
“About 65 percent of our buyers are from the US but we have customers from 89 countries around the world already.”
The site's head developer is a fellow Kiwi based in London.
"I have people on the team in New Zealand, London, Washington, New York and we’ll be expanding to India soon," said Ponsonby.
Australian shoe store StyleTread is also offering New Zealand shoppers access to designer brands, with more than 165 brands (from Guess to Mollini to Nude) of shoe styles and accessories.
Free next-day delivery and a 365-day free returns policy will no doubt sweeten the deal.
“New Zealand shoe lovers have told us they want StyleTread operating on their shores, and we have listened," said StyleTread managing director and cofounder Mark Rowland.
He said product prices for Kiwi shoppers would remain in Australian currency for now, although no GST will be charged.
