Nice Blocks, the new darlings of the frozen treat market, have created a brand new flavour in conjunction with the Child Cancer Foundation, which is aiming to raise $1 million this month to support children with cancer and their families.
“Children undergoing treatment don’t have as many options for a treat ... but ice blocks are always a hit. Nice Blocks are an ethical and dynamic new brand that produce tasty and healthy ice blocks," says fundraiser Scott Lancaster.
He said kids jumped at the chance to come up with their own Kiwiana flavour and Nice Blocks was the company to make that happen.
Winner Sean Ternent, who came off treatment a few years ago and still has regular check-ups, designed the winning flavour concept: Feijoa and Gingerbeer.
The new flavour launch is on March 25 at Chicago Bar on Wellington’s waterfront and if the public are just as keen on it as its inventor, it will be available around New Zealand from the beginning of the 2012/2013 summer with a portion of the profits going to CCF.
As the winner, Sean will be working alongside Nice Blocks to develop the final flavour and packaging design, and will be flown to Auckland with a family member to experience the whole production process at the Nice Blocks factory. He also gets a Nice Blocks crew t-shirt and – of course – plenty of Nice Blocks to share with his friends.
