Baggage handling technology company and finalist in the New Zealand International Business awards, BCS Group, has opened a new regional office in Malaysia’s MSC high tech corridor.
According to Brad Jackson, general manager, the 10-strong office is a critical element in the company’s growth plans for the area, which has seen it add projects in Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines in the last year alone.
BCS Group says it has been somewhat shielded from the European downturn through its increased presence in the Asian market, as those economies struggle to keep up with airport and airline infrastructure demands with ever growing and more mobile middle classes.
Jackson said a number of European companies were now turning to Asia and competing for market share to take advantage of its buoyant market.
Around 20 percent of its forecast 2012 revenues of $76m are coming from the rise in airline/airport operations in that region.
