A Silicon Valley-style business innovation hub has finally been rubber-stamped for central Christchurch.
The EPIC project team is behind the innovation hub, Sanctuary campus, which has been designed to stimulate the growth of innovative SMEs.
The campus will house 17 ICT companies and is built on the edge of the red zone. The Christchurch City Council has donated the land, previously the Para Rubber site, for the next five years.
Supporting organisations include Canterbury Development Corporation, Octa (selected for the project management role), PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Cera.
BNZ, which provided project financing and leveraged an insurance solution, has the naming rights to the site.
“We are delighted to support this game changing project for business in Christchurch. The campus’ focus on stimulating economic development in the innovation and SME sector will be a fast-track to growth for Christchurch.," said BNZ chief executive Andrew Thorburn.
Building is expected to start in February, with the aim of launching on June 1 2012.
