One Taranaki law firm is branching out to launch what it believes is a first in the New Zealand legal services industry.
Legal Beagle offers services and advice on matters including setting up a company, registering a trademark, buying or selling a house and setting up a family trust, carried out by qualified lawyers and legal executives.
Set up by Dennis King Law, the site does away with hourly rates and office visits in favour of flat upfront prices and virtual questionnaires with access to online help.
Claudia King, Legal Beagle’s joint founder and director and practising lawyer at Dennis King Law, said the site intended to make the law easier to understand and increase service standards by cutting out jargon and hidden costs often associated with legal services.
"Kiwis often put off going to see a lawyer because they’re worried about escalating hourly rates. And, lawyers can sometimes be hard to understand.
“We saw a real need within New Zealand to provide Kiwis with easy, online legal services for everyday legal matters at an upfront price with no hidden cost.”
