New Zealand fine food manufacturer Wild Appetite has scored quite a haul at the prestigious 2011 Great Taste Awards in London, coming away with seven medals in total.
Executive director Peter McCracken says: “We are delighted to have won awards in seven different categories at what is commonly referred to as the Oscars of the food world."
He hopes the win will raise the company's global profile and grow international sales.
“Not only does it position our products alongside the best in the world, but it recognises all of the hard work, passion and dedication that go into creating each and every one of our products.
“Consumers worldwide recognise Great Taste Award winners as being brands and products they can trust," he says.
The Great Taste Awards are now in their 18th year. A total of 7,481 products were entered from 1600 different companies; it took a total of 350 experts 34 days to blind taste test all of the entries and decide which entries would achieve the coveted gold awards.
Awards chairman Bob Farrand says for many companies, winning a gold is the catalyst for expanding their business.
“Winning gold in the country’s largest and most respected independent food accreditation scheme is a massive pat on the back for any producer—independent proof their products are of the highest quality," he says.
Wild Appetite walked away with prizes for its:
• Strawberry & Champagne Chocolate Sauce
• “The Original’’ Barbecue Sauce
• Mexican Chilli Sauce
• “The Cook’s Essential’’ Pour-Over Sauce
• Wasabi & Ginger Dressing
• Fire Grilled Red Pepper Aioli
• Merlot Wine Jelly
The Wild Appetite range of products includes sauces, dressings, marinades, wine jellies, chutneys and other specialty condiments along with a range of sauté cooking sauces, a recent addition to its Urban Appetite line which is verified gluten-free.
