WEwood watches, US$120 or $140
Not many manufacturers can say they give back more than they use. But WEwood, which fashions watches almost entirely of wood, plants a tree for every timepiece it sells. Each watch is made from unused scraps of maple, ebony, red wing celtis or guaiaco (but don’t worry, they’re free of artificial materials and toxins). The current collection is available in two styles: ‘Date’ features a classic analogue face while ‘Crono’ boasts an extra LED digital display. And of course, the palette is suitably earthy: beige, brown, army, black and various combinations thereof.
