Neil Young speaks ... at a Java conference

Neil Young/Freedom

The world just tilted a bit: Neil Young appeared on stage on JavaOne to announce he’s putting his ‘whole life’s work’ on Blu-Ray disks which will be automatically updated online. Sun’s flagging coolness factor just increased by a factor of a million. ReadWriteWeb has the story and even an excellent interview with the rocker.

Choice quotes: “The recording business is going somewhere but I don’t care about that, I try to remove myself from the business part. The artistic part of me tries to. The world will work it out … the laws don’t matter at that point. People sharing music in their bedrooms is the new radio.”

What else? Oh yeah … Young is building an electric car.
