App of the week: TheInsider

Who doesn't want to boast about being an insider, clued up on all the latest deals in the city?

Thanks to new Kiwi app TheInsider, it's easy to find happy hours, two-for-one deals and other similar specials in Auckland and Wellington bars, cafes and restaurants. Simply browse the offerings of nearby venues, the most popular deals, newest deals, or search or filter others based on specific criteria, whether you've got a hankering for sushi or bubbles, or you're after a student or kid-friendly deal.

Owners can submit their own deals right from the app via email. Listings come with maps and contact information (including social media profiles, along with the all-important deal conditions.

It's a free iPhone app (an Android version is in the works) developed by Niko Croskery and Jacob Duncan, who are bootstrapping their fledgling company, Wiretapp Labs – their first post-university venture.
