Orcon's CTO, Thomas Salmen, is the CIO of the Year, edging out Allan Lightbourne, head of technology and innovation at Mercury Energy, and David Scott, head of technology and innovation at Z Energy.
Salmen's role combines the CTO and the CIO
functions and according to the judges, he was solely responsible for the
conceptualisation, design and delivery of the Odyssey Network, one of Orcon's strongest financially performing areas.
The Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation, led by CEO Adrian Orr, were named winners of the inaugural Executive Team of the Year Award. Other finalists were Air New Zealand, Auckland Transport and healthAlliance.
Emerging ICT Leader of the Year went to Bruce Aylward at Psoda, a New Zealand-based IT business focused on software that help organisations manage projects more effectively.
