The New Zealand Computer Society (NZCS) is shrugging off its old name and, from July 1, adopting the new moniker Institute of IT Professionals.
Along with that comes a brand new logo (see below) following a vote that saw 97 percent in favour of the change.
Chief executive Paul Matthews said it was a bold and historic move.
"While a name change in and of itself won't change much, it sends a very clear signal to the wider community about who we are and what we've become."
He said the full legal name will be Institute of Information Technology Professionals New Zealand Incorporated, but just Institute of IT Professionals in everyday use.
