iPredict launches 2014 election stocks

Place your bets now: Victoria University's online predictions market iPredict has launched stocks for the result of the 2014 general election.

iPredict's nearly 6000 registered traders, and anyone else who signs up, can now trade on these contracts here.

iPredict forecast National's party vote last year to 0.01 percent of the actual election night result, overestimating Labour's vote by 1.67 percent and underestimating the Greens by 0.42 percent.

For the 2014 election iPredict is offering stocks on the party vote share of the National, Labour, Green and "all other" parties, with 1c equalling 1 percent of the vote; party vote share for the New Zealand First, Conservative, Maori, Mana, Act, UnitedFuture and Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis parties with 10c equalling 1 percent of the vote; how many electorate seats will be won by the Maori and Mana parties and whether the Act, Conservative, Green, New Zealand First and United Future parties will win at least one electorate seat; and on whether the next prime minister will be a member of the National, Labour or "other" parties.

If the next election takes place before 2014, the 2014 election stocks will pay out on the result of the earlier election.
