Lauren Vasey on AI and disrupting construction (listen)

Lauren Vasey, research associate and doctoral candidate at the Institute for Computational Design at the University of Stuttgart, chats about the role artificial intelligence and machines are playing in design - and how the construction industry is poised for a rapid disruption.

About some boats

Working across a sweeping array of projects, Rod Marler, director of design and place at Panuku Development Auckland, stands at the helm of a titanic portion of Auckland’s built future. Yet one special, not so well-known, maritime project where restoration work has just begun is close to his heart.

Future thinking

A proposed radical redesign of Dunedin’s Steamer Basin is gaining momentum, with first step in the project ¬– a bridge – getting funding approval from council. The next step will be gaining public approval. One of the collaborators in the project, Ian Taylor, discusses their vision for the Southern city.
