Dunedin

It's lit

Bridie O'Leary and Michael Henriquez are the co-founders of Glowjob, a LED signs start-up based in Dunedin New Zealand with a twist. The duo makes signs out of a LED neon flex material rather than the traditional and expensive glass neon, making their products more friendly on the wallet – and more flexible for designs.

Future thinking

A proposed radical redesign of Dunedin’s Steamer Basin is gaining momentum, with first step in the project ¬– a bridge – getting funding approval from council. The next step will be gaining public approval. One of the collaborators in the project, Ian Taylor, discusses their vision for the Southern city.

Make it work

Eighteen years of iD Dunedin Fashion weeks, as well as a globally recognised bachelor’s degree in fashion - it appears there is more to Dunedin’s fashion scene than David Bain’s sweater collection. Students Lillian Cotter and Paige Jansen have made their mark there with a pop-up store that funded a research trip to Shanghai.
