Kiwi bridal designer embarks on sustainable business venture

Kiwi bridal designer, Trish Peng, is taking a step towards sustainability with her recently opened consignment store ‘Yours Truly.’

Created for brides-to-be, Yours Truly allows customers to buy or sell pre-loved and sample weddings gowns from not only Peng’s label, but from other designers too.

Not only does Peng aim to provide Kiwi women with more options when it comes to their wedding, but also wants to play her part in helping reduce fashion waste by encouraging the re-use of gowns that still have life left in them.

Pre-loved and sample items are also a much more cost effective option than brand new gowns, a great alternative for those conscious about sustainability.

Trish Peng, Bridal Designer

“Wedding dresses are so rarely re-used and many women don’t often know what to do with their gowns a few years down the track, so why not create a platform that allows people to list and sell their wedding dresses like they do with other items in their wardrobe,” says Peng.

“With so much waste in the fashion industry, I’m excited to help reduce this and I think launching the Yours Truly platform is going to save a lot of dresses in perfectly wearable condition from ending up in landfills.”

Gowns are available to view by appointment at the Yours Truly showroom, located next door to Peng’s existing flagship store at 37 Mackelvie Street, Grey Lynn. Customers who visit the store will be warmly looked after by the Trish Peng team and will have access to onsite alterations.

Going above and beyond, Peng has also committed to donating $10 from every sale to charity. Buyers can choose from a selection of deserving charities including Women’s Refuge, Starship Foundation and Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.
