The second ever Design Guide was released at the end of 2012, and according to publisher Mark Graham, has been going gangbusters. Written by architects and designers, Design Guide 2013 is squarely aimed at homeowners who are in the design phase of their building projects. (If that's you, it's not too late to nab a copy.)

It covers building, landscape and interior design, with sections devoted to new technologies, kitchen and bathroom design. This issue has a feature on new approaches to green building, including case studies of both the Zero Energy House and the Passive house currently under construction. And there's stories on passive design, designing for the cold, aligning architecture with interior design and more.

Idealog has been covering the most interesting people, businesses and issues from the fields of innovation, design, technology and urban development for over 12 years. And we're asking for your support so we can keep telling those stories, inspire more entrepreneurs to start their own businesses and keep pushing New Zealand forward. Give over $5 a month and you will not only be supporting New Zealand innovation, but you’ll also receive a print subscription, an Idealog t-shirt and a copy of the new book by David Downs and Dr. Michelle Dickinson, No. 8 Recharged (while stocks last).
