Marlborough-based vineyard No.1 Family Estate is releasing 200 cases of crystal-encrusted custom wine bottles this week to mark the birthday of Adele Le Brun, who's the business partner and wife of owner Daniel Le Brun.
Adorned with genuine Swarovski gems, No.1 Family Estate’s Cuvée Adele is the result of three years' work and marks a first for New Zealand.
“We wanted a bespoke bottle which matched the quality of the wine, and reflected the significance of the event, and although crystal studded bottles have appeared before in France, this is an entirely new and exciting concept for the New Zealand market,” says Daniel Le Brun.
Adele Le Brun says she is looking forward to releasing the namesake wine made in celebration of the event, which she jokingly refers to as her “diamond jubilee birthday".
At the launch of the wine, she plans to perform a sabrage to mark the occasion – a traditional French technique for opening a wine bottle with a sabre, or champagne sword.
Cuvée Adele will be available for sale this week from Glengarry Wines in Auckland, selected wine stockists, and the No.1 Family Estate website until stocks last.
