Collectors eagerly await each new release of Absolut limited edition bottles, and the latest collection, Absolut Unique, is sure to impress with its dreamy, whimsical swirls. More impressively, it's managed the near-impossible by creating nearly four million individual bottles, each with a totally unique design.
In order to ensure every bottle was one of a kind, the company (which has won several design awards for its previous limited editions, including the FAB award, Eurobest and the Cannes Lions award) had to re-engineer its entire production line to deliver the carefully orchestrated randomness.
Splash guns and colour-generating machines were set up and complex coating, pattern and placement algorithms were programmed in to ensure that no two bottles would be alike. Thirty-eight different hues were used, and 51 pattern types were applied to the bottles. To make close to four million unique bottles, Absolut used 22 colours for the coating, five for the splash guns and 16 colours for the 51 pattern types.
Just 4,800 Absolut Unique one-litre limited edition bottles will be available in New Zealand, on a first come first served basis.
