Our coolest little capital will no longer have to miss out on the creative love-fest that is Semi-Permanent, with Wellington's debut announced for November.
From a line-up of award-winning international creatives who have worked on projects as varied as the direction of music videos for Lady Gaga, the production of the first pilot episode of Mad Men, special effects on New Zealand film Two Little Boys, typography for the London Olympics 2012 brand, a webcast video for indie sensations Arcade Fire to a sculpture exhibition by the sea in Denmark, Wellington audiences have the chance to hear from the hottest talent coming out of Spain, America and Australia.
Rising and established stars from all facets of the creative world will converge for the conference on November 16, including graphic designers Jessica Walsh and Astrid Stavro, ad agency The Glue Society, transmedia agency @Radical.Media, and Perceptual Engineering from the Auckland film/directing scene. More to come, of course.
Semi-Permanent was born from a desire to unite the world's design communities with a premium creative experience by creatives, for creatives and has hosted 33 events in eight cities, covering five countries, with over 200 speakers and 200,000 attendees in the last 10 years.
New Zealand founder and director, Simon Velvin, says: “Wellington is my home town so it’s always been close to my heart. While it’s lost some of the major creative head offices, it still punches above its weight as a cultural and innovation hub for some of the world’s most exciting creative talents.
“After lots of interest and support, we are delighted to grow Semi-Permanent into Wellington and help to nurture an already bustling community.”
Semi-Permanent Wellington tickets are $120 and discounted student tickets cost $70.
