A quick word with ... Thomas and Martin Poschauko

Thomas and Martin Poschauko are heading down under for We Can Create in Auckland next month. They're itching to see our fine country, but in the meantime, they indulged our curiosity into their working lives as creatives...

Thomas and Martin Poschauko - We Can CreateMy first job was ... a holiday job at the cheese factory that we both quit (Martin after one day, Thomas after two days) because we couldn't stand the smell of the cheese.

And now the title on my business card is ... Thomas + Martin Poschauko – Design / Art / Creativity

Which really means... that we just try to do what we want...

My day starts with...   convincing the three-year-old son of my girlfriend to let me sleep another hour and then drive to the kindergarden (Thomas), sleeping as long as possible, reading the sports page in the newspaper as long as possible, walking to the studio as slow as possible (Martin)

And ends with... smoking a shisha, enjoying the silence.

And in between, I... try to work in a way that doesn't feel like working.

My first artistic memory is... the sculptures in the workshop of our grandfather, who is a stone sculptor.

If I wasn't doing this, I'd... do something in the social area.

I'm inspired by...
almost everything that surrounds us: Nature, objects, movements, rhythms or colours of daily life.

I can't live without... running, drawing, nature and music.

True 'style' is...
always related to a true feeling.

My work in three words is...
artistic, pragmatic, experimental
