Forward thinking design wanted for the Be Open awards

Here at Idealog we believe in looking forward, not backwards. So we wholly approve of the Be Open Awards' theme: 'Create the future now'.

be open awards 2012It's an international initiative aimed at young talents in creative industries for those aged 18-30. The first prize in each category is an educational grant (a tuition fee) for study at a top design institute and a prize fund of 10,000 euro to be distributed among finalists by the jury.

There are three categories for submissions, all of which are centred about original solutions and future technologies that can be implemented today.

Works of product (industrial) design. Submitted projects should show potential for production. Cross-disciplinary projects combining product design with graphic / interactive / environmental design are welcome.

Architectural projects and solutions of urban environment improvement methods, town-planning, energy-saving and environment-saving technologies. In short, everything that relates to urban planning and profound complex development of urbanscape.

Sound design, motion design and animation, interactive and interface design, hybrid environments etc. Works showing innovative application of media environments in their interaction with user and experimental multimedia art are welcome.

There is no limit to the number of projects that can be submitted for any of the categories, but only one project can be submitted per category.

The deadline for project submission is August 20. See
