Ziera's design head honcho Angela Roper shares a few insights into her busy life.
My first job was... picking potatoes to earn holiday money (aged 10).
And now the title on my business card is... Ziera Group Design Leader.
Which really means... leading Ziera in its drive to be a design integrated organisation - better thinking, better approaches, and better customer connections.
My day starts with... an alarm going off when it is far too dark outside.
And ends with... choosing which shoes I will wear tomorrow and what will go with them.
And in between, I... ask questions, work on strategy, attend meetings, review designs, problem solve, ask questions, fit test shoes, pick up kids, monitor homework, answer questions, cook, garden, read bedtime books, then relax and converse on the couch with my husband – if I am lucky with a glass of wine!
My favourite first artistic memory is... on my first week of school our class made a four-metre long collage of the Hungry Caterpillar with tiny pieces of coloured paper ripped out of magazines – as a 5-year-old it was my first taste of working on a large scale project!
If I wasn't doing this, I'd... be wondering why I wasn’t doing it. However, one day I would like a sabbatical in France where Dave can work in a winery and I could immerse myself in the culture and cuisine.
I'm inspired by... people who are passionate about what they do. I love trawling the pages of TED.com to hear peoples stories – there is so much wisdom, inspiration and encouragement. Recently I visited Allan Gibbs Sculpture Park – that was mindblowing. I am in awe of artists who create large-scale work that responds/relates to the surrounding landscape. Balancing the concept with the mechanics is truly inspiring.
I can't live without... my husband and kids as they have been insightful, funny, loyal companions on life’s adventures (but my husband would say I can’t live without Kitchenaid!)
True 'style' is... knowing who you are, being comfortable with it and expressing it through every aspect of your life.
My work in three words is... inspiring, challenging, satisfying.
