Budget considerations and sustainable practices are firmly positioning themselves as the core drivers in the building and renovating process. Yet the balancing act between achieving both without compromising the quality of design can be a hard one.
Husband-and-wife team Kerry and Lindsay Clare have collaborated for more than 30 years, setting up Clare Design in 1979 and setting about changing the face of architectural design in Australia and beyond.
In 2010 they received the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medal for their contribution to the advancement of architecture and particularly sustainable architecture.
The Clares are spending the majority of 2012 touring the globe offering an insight into how they blend environment sensitivity and budget considerations into high quality architectural design.
