St Lukes is about to get a whole lot bigger with the mega-mall set to double available floor space and be re-zoned as a town centre.
The Environmental Council has given the go-ahead for Auckland Council to start extending the mall over 92,000 square metres.
Mt Albert residents made a number of complaints about Auckland Council’s 2010 plan when it was approved in November.
Auckland Council planning manager Penny Pirrit said the council had been attempting to smooth out these complaints.
"The council has, since late 2010, been working with those appellants to see if we can resolve the concerns and issues those appeals raised," she said.
Some of the issues ironed out include imposing height restrictions and measures to slow down traffic on some roads around the centre.
But does Auckland really need another Sylvia Park?
