Party it up in Lower Hutt's new town square

Who needs an excuse to throw a party? Nobody, really, but the Big Day Dowse has one in the form of celebrating Lower Hutt's new town square.

Designed by Athfield Architects and Wright + Associates, the team behind Wellington’s Waitangi Park, the new heart of the city will feature paved and grassed areas, a freshwater spring and a sculpture by Kiwi artists Ronnie Van Hout and John Reynolds.

Big Day Dowse will be a massive party for all ages featuring a number of acts including headliner Rhombus, Bella Kalolo, Newton Rocksteady and video art by Michael Tuffery. The square will also host high wire acts from Fuse Circus, dynamic street art by graf artists, stilt walkers, street theatre, storytelling and gourmet food.

When: March 25, 1-6pm

Where: In front of the Dowse Art Museum, 45 Laings Rd, Lower Hutt, Wellington. Fuse Circus
