Even if you managed to convince yourself that you were making a fashion statement by wearing those clunky, cloggy, brightly coloured plastic footwear concoctions known as Crocs, with the benefit of hindsight, you’d probably concede they were in fact a fashion faux pas. If there were an antithesis to this fleeting fashion, it would be the eternally and universally trendy Converse 'Chuck Taylor' shoes, which have managed to stay in fashion since they were first unveiled back in 1917 by basketball player Chuck Taylor. Now it looks like Crocs has taken a leaf out of the converse book with the latest edition to its “evolving footwear range”.
While obviously not directly attributing the inspiration to Converse, Crocs describes its new range of Hover Lace-up and Slip-on sneakers as “vintage-inspired”.
