Calling typography-enthused Kiwi designers

If you’re a designer with a particular penchant for typography and the German language (yes, that’s quite the combination), the Goethe-Institut has launched the design competition just for you. The institute is on the hunt for New Zealand-based design students and professionals to design their own alphabets.

It’s pretty straightforward. Simply design your all 26 letters of your alphabet (numbers are optional) and provide a sample of the alphabet letters spelling ‘Goethe-Institut’ using your alphabet letters.

You can submit digital or hand-drawn designs and entries close August 31. More info can be found here.

Idealog has been covering the most interesting people, businesses and issues from the fields of innovation, design, technology and urban development for over 12 years. And we're asking for your support so we can keep telling those stories, inspire more entrepreneurs to start their own businesses and keep pushing New Zealand forward. Give over $5 a month and you will not only be supporting New Zealand innovation, but you’ll also receive a print subscription and a copy of the new book by David Downs and Dr. Michelle Dickinson, No. 8 Recharged (while stocks last).
