One of the first products from a new local contemporary furniture and lighting company called Resident is this innovative floor lamp by Jamie McLellan, tentatively named the Carbon Floor Lamp. Currently in prototype stage, the light is fashioned from carbon fibre tubes with a light spun in machine aluminium.
Resident was established by Simon James Design, mainly for items other people can produce to give the company more of an export focus. For that reason, says James, the company will promote items such as lighting and things that can be packed down. Two other products that have been produced for Resident include the Pedro Stool and the Flyover table, also by Jamie McLellan.
Simon James says you can expect to see a number of products to come out of the Resident stable as we head into the future. He aims to release the Carbon Floor Lamp towards the end of 2010. The first production will be available at Simon James Design in Newton, Auckland.
