They created their own extra virgin olive oil, Unique Drizzle, with every bottle of oil sold funding one local child through the Life Education Trust programme.

For Su’a, Caring & Co’s success – including selling enough of Unique Drizzle to fund a whole local primary school – is based on teamwork.

And he’s not afraid to rise to the challenges of leadership when tough decisions are needed.

“It’s challenging having to be the bad guy sometimes but, at the end of the day, there are deadlines to meet. Because we are all equals, everyone is accepting of my criticisms.”

The 17-year-old plans to pursue a career in business, starting with tertiary study next year, while carrying on as MD of Caring & Co.

As winner of the NZICA Young Managing Director of the Year Award, Su’a received a cash prize of $1000 and a trophy.
