SaaS entrepreneur on board with VMob

Mobile marketing company VMob has recruited Michael Carden, the founder of human resources software as a service business Sonar6, as a non-executive director.

Sonar6 was founded in Auckland in 2006 but was acquired in 2012 by US talent management giant Cornerstone OnDemand for US$14 million, with Carden becoming its vice president of small business operations.

VMob pointed to Carden’s knowledge and experience in growing tech businesses.

“He is well known both in the New Zealand and Silicon Valley tech industry for his understanding of successful SaaS business models and B2B technology sales and marketing techniques,” it said.

Carden is also a member of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s Beachheads Advisory Board, chair at Promapp Solutions and a director of Flossie.com.

Before Sonar6 he spent six years as HP’s consumer business general manager.

VMob is listed on the junior NZAX and last year raised $2.3 million from a private share placement and $4 million of additional new capital. The $4 million raise last November was supported by five Australian institutions and a New Zealand institution.
