The Radio Network (TRN) is bringing personalised digital radio service iHeartRadio in New Zealand next year, offering access to live broadcast and digital-only radio stations, plus user-created custom stations.
Since its launch in 2011 at the inaugural iHeartRadio Music Festival, iHeartRadio has been operated in the US by Clear Channel as a free app for iOS and Android.
iHeartRadio will launch in both New Zealand and Australia in 2013 and will be marketed with support from APN and Clear Channel International (Clear Channel owns half of the Australian Radio Network, the parent company of TRN. The other half is owned by APN).
iHeartRadio claims more than 17 million registered users, more than 125 million app downloads and more than 115 million listening hours a month.
TRN chief executive Jane Hastings said iHeartRadio offers more songs, more user control, deeper social integration and more opportunities to discover new music – "all in one easy to use, seamless product".
