The world's largest retailer, Walmart, is also leading the pack when it comes to Facebook.
According to social media and digital analytics provider Socialbakers, Walmart has the most engaged users of all US retailers on its Facebook page.
It has the most number of fans, topping the list at more than 10 million fans and 7,656 fan posts last month (nearly double the amount of both fans and fan posts by number two retailer Target).
Walmart encourages users to like its page by offering a variety of content, such as daily recipes and a meal-planning tool.
The Socialbakers study found that retailers with the most Facebook fans and Twitter followers already have consumers actively engaged, enabling retailers to share information about sales, special offers, and early hours.
“This enables them to interact and respond to consumers instantaneously – offering them a massive competitive advantage that converts to increased sales and loyalty," said chief executive Jan Rezab.
